As we head back toward I-5 on the way to Firebaugh on this Day 26 of ’50 Miles in 50 Days,’ we make it the town of Huron.
Situated around 15 miles northeast of Coalinga, the town originated as a key stop on the Union Pacific Railroad’s western route in the late 1800s.
It was one of the nation’s top wool producers in the early 20th century. Now agriculture is the main industry in this town that’s around 50 miles from Fresno… we sense another song coming.
Known as the Heart of the San Joaquin Valley, just off the I-5 we salute the folks in Huron as we continue the journey to Firebaugh.
