Remembering Tex

On Day 12 of ’50 Miles in 50 Days,’ we honor Country Music Hall of Fame member and entertainment legend Tex Ritter.

110 years ago to this day, January 12, 1905 was when Tex was born in Murvaul, Texas.

His song ‘The Deck of Cards’ was one of his most memorable recordings. It is the inspiration for a Penn and Teller illusion that you can see to this very day at their show in Las Vegas.

Beyond the music, Tex’s son John earned acclaim as a star comedic actor on television and film. His own movie career saw him starring in films from the mid-1930s for decades to follow.

Here’s to Tex on the date of his birth over a century ago.
